Charlotte North Rotary Club sponsors an annual essay contest at Eastway Middle School. The contest for this year has been completed and we will have an award presentation ceremony at the CNRC meeting on Monday, May 2nd. And the 2005 2nd Annual Essay Contest Awards Recepients are:

Contest Announcement
2nd Annual Essay Contest

Once again this year, the Charlotte North Rotary Club invites 8th grade students at Eastway Middle School to participate in our annual essay contest. This year’s essay will deal with your selection of a high school “career path”. First, second, and third place authors will receive awards. Here are the essay contest details.

Essay Topic: “Describe what career path you have chosen for high school and why you selected it.”

Contest Rules: Your essay should be printed and be no longer than 2 pages, double-spaced with 12-point font. Proper spelling and grammar, as well as, neatness are required. You should write the essay yourself; however, you may ask a parent or teacher to edit it. Your essay will be judged by a team of Charlotte North Rotary Club members. They will evaluate your essay on three criteria: 1) clearness of career path selected, 2) convincing reasons for choosing the career path, and 3) your enthusiasm for your preferred career path.

Submission Deadline: All completed essays must be submitted by Wednesday, March 21, 2005. Turn your completed essay in to your language arts teacher who will forward it to Ms. Sylvia Barkley.

Awards: The first place winner will receive a prize of $100. The second place winner will receive $50 and the third place winner will receive a prize of $25. All three winners will receive a plaque.

All winners will be invited to read their essays at the Charlotte North Rotary Club luncheon meeting on Monday, May 2nd. They will receive their prize and plaque at that meeting.
